The BBU and its members: A significant force in the housing marketThe BBU is the federation of the housing companies and housing cooperatives with their place of business in the city of Berlin and in the federal state of Brandenburg. 389 housing associations, limited companies, joint stock companies and housing cooperatives are members of the BBU. Their housing stock comprises 1.2 million residential dwellings. Approximately 33 percent of the Berlin housing stock and 38 percent of the housing stock in Brandenburg is owned and administered by the members of the BBU.Committed to members interestLobby-work on behalf of its members with the city government of Berlin and the state government of Brandenburg is the main task of the BBU. The BBU`s second main point of activities lies in the field of accounting making up the annual balance for most of its members. Simultaneously the BBU is a first-rate information source on all aspects of the housing sector and real estate in Berlin and Brandenburg. This information is based on market surveys regularly conducted by the BBU. Furthermore the BBU offers its members comprehensive expertise that means provision of all necessary and important informations concerning housing policy, law, financing and investment.
